WASHINGTON -- In another sign of just how hard-fought the battle will be for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, Democratic challenger Dina Titus will stay home from the party’s national convention in Denver next week to campaign.
Both Titus and her opponent, Republican Rep. Jon Porter, appear to be trying to show their independence from the national parties by foregoing the conventions.
Porter already announced he would not be attending the Republican event the following week in St. Paul.
Theirs is among the most watched races in the nation. Democrats now outnumber Republicans in the Henderson-area district, but independent voters still have considerable sway.
In Nevada’s other closely watched House race, Democratic challenger Jill Derby plans to attend two days of the Denver convention, but won’t be there for the full event. Incumbent Rep. Dean Heller has reportedly said he will not go to the Republican convention in St. Paul.

Really smart move by Titus. With all NevaDUH's MSM in Denver, she's bound to get scads of press coverage here. DUH! And it's snub #3 against Obama. The first was her wrong choice of HRC; the second is her abdicating her position as a delegate royal from NevaDUH to cast her vote for him; and third is that HER race is more important than HIS race. Now wonder she lost to Gibbons.... Titus will hardly be missed.
And everyone will be saying "Jill Who?" "From Where?" "Is she running for something?"
Seems it's mandatory that Dem candidates in NevaDUH pass an idiot's test before being endorsed by the Dem party.... http://texex-xpress.blogspot.com/
