2nd District Race
A new Reno Gazette-Journal poll has Rep. Dean Heller, R-Carson City, with an expanded lead over Democratic challenger Jill Derby.
Heller had 48 percent, Derby had 41 percent, and 9 percent remained undecided, reports Anjeanette Damon on her blog.
She notes the numbers are an improvement for Heller from the last poll the paper did, when Heller was beating Derby by 5 percent -- within the margin of error.
An interesting side note -- Heller was doing better in the district, where Republicans outnumber Democrats 176,000 to 150,000 -- than Republican Sen. John McCain.

You really think Senator Obama will win the Nevada 2nd? Perhaps that trip to Elko really did the trick? Heller's district includes rural portions of Clark County and I think the newer sections of North Las Vegas - is it possible those votes will tip the district to Obama? I doubt it. The rural counties will be out for McCain in record numbers. Those votes will outweigh whatever Clark County gives Obama keeping the Silver State red hot.
Is NevadaFive related to the Keating Five?
Keep dreaming, N5.
No - I don't think Obama will carry CD2. But, he doesn't need to. He will, however, significantly cut into McCain's CD2 margin and will will win state by carrying CD3 and CD1 by much more than he loses CD2.
Obama will win CD2; Jillo won't; done deal. Here's why http://texex-xpress.blogspot.com/2008/10...
