Shocked and Devastated

The president of the Nevada State Medical Association, Dr. Ed Kingsley, said he is shocked and devastated by the lapses that went on for years at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada and other clinics. Kingsley also said that anesthesiologists, who bill independently of the clinics, would have been more likely to challenge the practices than the nurse anesthetists who depended for their livelihoods on Dr. Dipak Desai, the owner of the six facilities closed by authorities.

After the show Kingsley voiced concerns about the type of Hepatitis C test being given to Southern Nevadans. Just in case you're interested, the PCR RNA test is the gold standard that measures viral presence, not just antibodies, which can take years to develop.

Tomorrow: Attorney Jim Jimmerson, who represents the family of Deshira Selimaj, the woman killed by a Henderson police officer during a traffic stop, promises blockbuster revelations from an independent autopsy. Henderson Police Chief Richard Perkins told reporters the officer shot Selimaj because she was attacking another officer. But Jimmerson says the trajectory of the bullet indicates Selimaj was on her knees or sitting on the ground.

We invited Henderson police to send a representative but the department declined.

  1. Isn't PCR RNA testing for HIV not Hepatitis?
