Goalie John DeCaro stoned all five shootout attempts by Bakersfield on Thursday night to power the Wranglers to a 5-4 exhibition victory.
Matt McKnight, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound center fresh out of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, scored the decider on that last attempt of the shootout before 2,818 at the Orleans Arena.
McKnight, a 24-year-old center from Kalkirk, Alberta, who was drafted in the ninth round of the 2004 NHL entry draft by Dallas, also scored in regulation.
Forwards Chris Neiszner, Peter Ferraro and Tyler Mosienko also scored to force extra hockey for the Wranglers.
Nobody scored in overtime, which forced the shootout.
