As expected, Larry Brown and Valerie Weber will vie in November for the county commission seat being vacated by Chip Maxfield.
Brown, a city councilman, has defeated Democratic contender Jeff Campbell to secure the party’s nomination for the District C seat. Brown has 77.4 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results. About 75 percent of the precincts are reporting.
Weber, a state assemblywoman, has a commanding lead over four opponents, with 64.1 percent of the vote, also with 75 percent of the precincts reporting.
A Brown-Weber race figures to be one of the more fierce in the valley through the Nov. 4 general election. Both are fairly well-known and the district is balanced between Democrats and Republicans, though the Republicans hold a slight advantage.
