Flashpoint by Jon Ralston

Saturday, Oct. 11

You have to love Rip Van Gibbons. The state Democrats pointed out last week that the governor is in an election year slumber because no Republican from John McCain to lower-hanging ticket fruit wants anything to do with him. The party folks were irked, I think, that Jim Gibbons awoke to leap, foot in mouth, into the ACORN mess, illuminating just how nonsensically partisan it has become. Then the next day, Gibbons announced a housing recovery task force and told some reporters that it was “pure fantasy” to not realize we are in a recession. This from the guy who refused for months to even acknowledge we are in a crisis. Better for everyone if he goes back to sleep.
