Did you catch Mike Sanford on the Channel 8 news Monday night, talking about a contract extension in a tone that bordered on defiance? Sanford supposedly will meet with Athletic Director Mike Hamrick after Thanksgiving to discuss a contract extension. An extension is the wrong topic for Sanford and Hamrick’s conversation.

SAN DIEGO -- What's on paper can't win ball games on its own. San Diego State found 42 ways to prove that Saturday night at Qualcomm Stadium. The Aztecs looked nothing like the team that had stumbled to a 1-10 record going into the season's final weekend, one that dragged a porous defense with it like a ball and chain.

UNLV junior linebacker Jason Beauchamp was on track to earn one from Utah back in the fall of 2004, but that process got rushed along when the Utes' offensive coordinator -- current Rebels coach Mike Sanford -- brought a tape into the office of head coach Urban Meyer.

It's official. The UNLV football team's regular season finale at San Diego State will mean something, indeed. On the heels of Thursday night's 22-14 Senior Night victory over Wyoming, the Rebels remain in control of their own bowl eligibility fate. The UNLV defense held things down with a pair of second half interceptions off of Chris Stutzriem.
