Administrators get 2 vacation days a month for a total 24 full-pay vacation days a year. If they accumulate 100 days, they can "sell back" to the district 20 days -- at full pay. Now there is a cash cow that can be easily used to defray any further budget cuts in this school district. Now if you think that teachers get this same "perk" you would be sadly mistaken. Teachers do NOT get paid for any vacations (that includes the two weeks at Christmas and the one for spring break)--- they get the time off for without pay.... Just like the students in Clark County. The same is true for holidays. Teachers get the time off, but are not paid for these holidays. But administrators can get this time off -- with pay by using their accumulated vacation days. If you ask Walt Rulffes for an answer on this one you would be surprised by his answer.

Before CCSD cuts any money from classrooms, they should make sure that the phony baloney folks are cut.....

1. At the present time every administrator gets 2 vacation days a month (full pay) a year. That's 24 vacation days a year. Now you might think that teachers get the same thing -- NO they don't. Teachers get a day without pay for every holiday. An administrator can use a vacation day for that holiday and get paid for that. That's wasteful spending, and it should stop right now!

2. There is no need to have more than 2 administrators in any school building. In high schools eliminate the deans. The assistant principal can manage the day-to-day business of discipline problems. Again, the wasteful expense of so many administrators must cease.

3, Any teacher who is NOT spending the day teaching, needs to return to the classroom. TOSAs (teachers on special assignment) need to return.

4, Cut out the waste and the use of administrators that are lining their retirement pockets with consultant jobs. That's stealing, and that must end -- right now.

5. Bus service -- eliminate this service. Have parents drive their kids to school, offer bus passes on CAT busses, install more bike racks at schools, have the kids walk to school.

6. All after school activities should be PAID activities. This includes sports -- "Pay as you Play."

7. The rental fees for school properties must increase.... triple the fees.

I am sure others can add to this list.

Gibbons should appoint Beers to the regent's position. I think he would keep Rogers in check. But of course, Rogers will resign -- in a huff -- if he doesn't get his way. He's done it before; perhaps this time he will leave for good. I say place Beers on the board.

Some folks think that teachers get "paid" holidays and vacations. That is NOT true. Yes, we get the time off -- without pay, On the other hand, Rulffes and his administrator compadres get PAID vacations at the tune of 2 vacation days per month , i.e., 24 days of PAID vacation a year. Now why not cut this perk and see how much money CCSD can save per year. Have these administrator fat-cats get the SAME days off -- without compensation. Of course, Murillo of CCEA would NEVER recommend this to CCSD and Walt Rulffes would NEVER accept this as a way to save money. No, let's balance this budget on the ones who have the least to show for their efforts. That seems fair doesn't it?

"Congratulations to Ron Taylor for running a campaign with honesty and integrity and standing up for kids."

It's unfortunate that Chris Garvey did NOT do the same. Gary Gray muddied the waters. Hopefully Gray and his wife will leave town -- soon. She won't be running for a second term on the city council..... her days are numbered.
